Craggz has been involved in the music industry for over 15 years. He commenced his musical venture at the age of 14, playing guitar for bands around his home town Newcastle. In 1991 Craggz accompanied a friend to an early Rezerection and heard the likes of Grooverider and Evil Eddy Richards. Spinning a selection of early house and breakbeat grooves Craggz was hooked! Replacing his guitar with an old Atari ST and an akai sampler Craggz lost himself in technology. For 6 years he studied music technology, and worked in recording studios around Newcastle to learn the trade.

In 1997 he, and a friend, formed the production duo NIL. They first released music in 1999 with a track entitled Three Mile Radius, on self-funded NIL Recordings. The track was received well by many top DJ's and was in the box of Ray Keith, Ed Rush and the Usual Suspects to name a few. It was the experience of pressing his own records and legging it round London, dropping off whites that gave Craggz a deep understanding of the music industry. NIL released the Spy V Spy EP on London imprint Cold Steel later that year. They continued to release singles on NIL Recordings and with a Flex affiliated label. In 2003 NIL eventually split.
From an early age Doug's main interest was music. Growing up in New Zealand he was heavily influenced by Hip-Hop, Rock and Reggae. He started playing clarinet age 9, and then moved onto sax aged 11. In 1994 Doug moved to Newcastle where he first came into contact with dance music culture.
Malcolm was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, 1981. Musically he started very early. At the age of 4 he played violin and piano and by the age of 9 was learning guitar, bass and drums. This musical foundation set him in good stead. By the age of 11 he was already composing and recording guitar based music onto 4-track tape.

Doug and Malcolm first met, and became friends, at high school in 1994. Both cite the release of The Prodigy Experience and then Goldie's Timeless as turning points in the way they viewed electronic music. Something just clicked; it felt more like real music and drew on influences we were familiar with.

Doug developed an obsession with DJing and pursued this; making regular trips to London, record shopping, and clubbing at nights such as Speed and the Blue note. By 1996, age 15, Doug was DJing in clubs alongside local talents Elementz of Noise and Hidden Agenda. This would be the catalyst for him venturing into production.
Malcolm concentrated his instrumental focus on guitar and drums, and developed great interest in recording and music production. Drawing inspiration from this new sound, he now viewed combining samples and synths with real instruments as the way forward.
At the end of high school, 1997, Doug and Malcolm independently decided to study music technology at Newcastle College. It was here they realised their musical interests were very similar and they started writing music together as Parallel Forces. In conjunction with some friends they formed a basic sampler based studio in Doug's attic, which they have continued to develop ever since.

Parallel Forces made their debut with the single Grounded Theory in 2002 on Aspect Recordings. This was followed up by Timing on the Aspect/Perspective Vol. 1 EP later in the year. Subsequently they have released music for Nu-urban, and contributed towards a DJ compilation for New York imprint Topaz.
